Grandpa James Alfred Marcum And Another Cabin

No one I've talked to knows, precisely, where or when this picture was taken. Some seem to think it was taken at the Briary Branch cabin when there were more rooms attached, with the rooms being torn off before this picture was taken. However, we do plan on visiting the Briary Branch site again, to see if we can be more conclusive...

Since this cabin is no longer standing, we can only guess as to where it might have been. Grandpa Marcum lived in two more cabins, other than the one on Briary Branch, in the general vicinity of Sextons Creek and Maulden, Kentucky. One of those places was in Herd, Kentucky and the other one was in the area of Buncomb Creek.

After making a visit to Grandpa Marcum's old cabin on Briary Branch, in 2002, we were convinced that the above pictured cabin was not the cabin that is still located on Briary Branch. From looking at the front of this cabin it's pretty easy to see that the front of the Briary Branch cabin is different from the cabin above. The old Briary Branch cabin has been incorporated or transformed into a tobacco barn, with the original part of the cabin being used as a stripping room.
